Abstract
Background: The latest epidemiological research of adolescents asthma in Novosibirsk was carried out in 2002 due to Three Phase ISAAC.Then such studies in our city were not met.
Aim: To study trends of asthma in children aged 13-14 in Novosibirsk.
Methods: To estimate trends of asthma in adolescents during the period from 2002 to 2012 yrs it was examined 3025 children aged 13-14 yrs in 2012 by standardized questionnaire ISAAC. Among them were49,9% boys. These data were compared with those obtained in 2002.
Results: This study was showed that the number of adolescents reported to have had asthma increased by 0,12% per year (from 3,8% to 6,6%, p < 0,001). It was noted decrease of prevalence in this population night cough from 14,1% in 2002 to 12,9% in 2012. Sleep disturbance be reason of weezing at least one night per week was decreased from 2,4% in 2002 to 1,4% in 2012 (p < 0,05), more than one night per week – from 0,9% in 2002 to 0,5% in 2012 (p < 0,05). The prevalence of exercise wheeze has no significantly changed: 12,8% in 2002 and 12,9% in 2012, p > 0,05). Severe wheeze limiting speech were also recorded a little less often – from 1,7% in 2002 to 1,2% in 2012 (p > 0,05).
Conclusions: The study showed that significantly has improved diagnosis of asthma in adolescents in Novosibirsk. However, for other asthma symptoms positive trends are observed. Has remained stable percentage of children 13-14 years with persistent asthma and with severe asthma.
