Asthma
Asthma is a very common, chronic condition that affects the quality of life of patients and often challenges the attending physician. This new book is an evidence-based, comprehensive pocket guide that includes all the relevant information on asthma and its management, and is a useful tool for the busy clinician.
The book is concise and in a small format but contains all the necessary data, high-quality information and references, with a view to applying them in the clinical setting. There are sections on epidemiology, pathophysiology, diagnosis, pharmacology (including current and upcoming medications) and management, with special reference to management in primary practice and in special circumstances. There are also sections on the management of exacerbations and difficult asthma. Each chapter begins with key points that help the reader and add to the book's educational value.
The book is easy to read, it has a good number of helpful graphs, flow charts and algorithms, and it is written by authors who are experts within the field. “Asthma” is very reasonably priced and it is a valuable tool for young doctors, doctors in primary care and nurses specialising in asthma or working in busy practices.
