Summary: 
Change in operating lung volume as ventilation increases with exercise in a) interstitial lung disease (ILD); and b) age-matched healthy subjects. Restrictive constraints on tidal volume (VT) expansion (╦) during exercise are significantly greater in the ILD group from above (reduced inspiratory reserve volume (IRV) as end-inspiratory lung volume approaches total lung capacity (TLC)).
