Summary:
Thin section, fat-suppressed heavily T2-weighted (T2 SPACE) MRI section demonstrating the “nutmeg” appearance of interlobular septal high T2-signal throughout the right lung. This is related to lymphatic congestion/lymphangiomatosis. Note the adjacent chylous pleural effusion with chest drain in situ and further prominent lymphatics in the supraclavicular fossa and axilla on the right. By comparison, the left lung is well aerated and there is less significant lymphatic enhancement. This image is taken from a 3-month-old infant; similar findings may be seen on fetal MRI.
