Summary: 
Axial CT images taken at the a) upper, b) middle and c) lower zones of the lungs demonstrating a UIP pattern on CT in a 49-year-old, male, three pack-years ex-smoker. The UIP pattern is characterised by honeycomb cysts and traction bronchiectasis in a predominantly basal and peripheral distribution within the lungs. In the presence of idiopathic disease, the patient was diagnosed with IPF following multidisciplinary team discussion.
