Summary:
Respiratory protection being used in Vladimir, Russia. The healthcare worker on the left is wearing a fitted elastomeric respirator with replaceable N-95 filtration cartridges. More commonly used in industry, elastomeric respirators provide a better fit, can be cleaned and are more cost-effective than typical disposable N-95 or FFP2 respirators (as worm by the healthcare worker on the right). The patient is wearing a surgical mask, not a respirator, designed to reduce the generation of infectious particles by impaction near the source. Surgical masks do not protect the wearer and are not recommended for healthcare worker use.
