Summary:
Routine spirometer-controlled magnetic resonance imaging. A spirometer is positioned in the child’s mouth, hearing protection covers the ears, and a receiver coil is placed on the chest. The child’s arms are positioned alongside the thorax, which is suboptimal as it increases artefacts. This positioning and preparation is required in order to reduce discomfort due to the time spent in the magnetic resonance imaging scanner (15–20 min).
