Summary:
Generation of F/HN-pseudotyped lentiviral vector. Sophisticated molecular techniques enable the replacement of the gp120 envelope glycoprotein, which supports lentivirus entry into T-cells but is not suitable for entry into airway epithelial cells, with the F (fusion) and HN (haemagglutinin-neuraminidase) proteins from the Sendai virus, which support efficient entry into airway epithelial cells. This process is called pseudotyping and leads to the generation of a chimeric pseudotyped F/HN lentiviral vector. Figure courtesy of A.C. Boyd, UK CF Gene Therapy Consortium.
