Summary:
Impedance spectra in a healthy child and in young children with lung disease. The components of respiratory system impedance, resistance (top) and reactance (bottom) are shown across the medium frequency range. An average of three impedance measurements were obtained from four boys aged 4.4 years and 105 cm tall for comparison between disease states. Differences in Rrs, Xrs, AX, fres and fdep are evident, to varying extents, in commonly encountered paediatric diseases when compared to a typical healthy child.
